He's Alive!
its been 5 years since I started this blog, seems longer, there have been 2 mayoral contests, multiple other municipal elections, one presidential election. I have moved from one side of the city to the other and have seen the scope of my postings change. So here we are, 5 years and 1030 posts later, and I want to thank all my readers for making this such a fun ride.
Happy Birthday Jesus!

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
20 years seems like a long time, but it also seems like yesterday.
20 years ago, on a cold icy February afternoon, I made a commitment to another person that she would be the only one for me, “til death do us part”.
Through those years there has been some heartaches, trials, arguments & strife, yet it has only been a small part of our lives as the rest of the time has been filled with love, happiness, laughter, and friendship. Our relationship has lasted long past the ones of those that said we would fail. I’m so grateful to God, that he has placed her in my life.
So, happy anniversary, I love you more now than then, and not only do I want you to know this, I want everyone else to know it as well.
There is nothing worse than going to a new town and not knowing where the good food is, and it seems some of the "trip advisor" reviews are either stacked, or just plain wrong.
So in the interest of helping travelers along, I thought I would share my opinions on what the best or worst restaurants.
The Good:
BT Bones - Good steaks, especially the "Flat Iron", however their in store entertainment is a bit on the loud side.
The Farmhouse - "Home cooked" meals, their Chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes are really good.
Dockers - I dont like buffets & I like their breakfast buffet.
Charlies Ribs and Steaks - had their burger, better than most.If you have any other suggestions, let me know...
Jesus Christ is no longer on the cross. It is empty!
The burial clothes that he was wrapped in are folded in the tomb. They are empty!
The Stone has been rolled away, and Jesus is no longer in the tomb. IT IS EMPTY!
Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Matthew 28:5-6
As long as I remember
I've been walking through the wilderness
Praying to the Father
And waiting for my time
I've come here with a mission
And soon I'll give my life for this world
I'm praying in the garden
And I'm looking for a miracle
I find the journey hard but
It's the reason I was born
Can this cup be passed on
Lord, I pray your will be done
In this world
So I'll carry my cross
And I'll carry the shame
To the end of the road
Through the struggle and pain
And I'll do it for love
No, it won't be in vain
Yes, I'll carry my cross
And I'll carry the shame
I feel like I'm alone here
And I'm treated like a criminal
The time has come for me now
Even though I've done no wrong
Father, please forgive them
They know not what they've done
In this world
Three more days and I'll be coming back again
Three more days and I'll be coming back again
Just like 20-40% of Tulsa, I too am without power, and have been since about 5:15 Monday morning. I was lucky enough to beat Chris Medlock to the Home Depot to get my generator Monday night. I have been meaning to get one for a long time, but necessity forced my hand. Luckily the weather is getting warmer so we can all evaluate the damage done. Be safe and stay warm, Ill be typing again at you as soon as I can!
1) Branson Landing is nice it would be a great addition to
Like some others around these parts this blog turned 2 years old... at least in the form that it is in now, before that it was just a bunch of innane and incoherent ramblings... things havent changed much have they?
Thanks to those who read this thing, and to those who comment. I would also like to thank all the other Tulsa Bloggers that have really made this whole experience enjoyable.
Please consider a small charitable contribution to the Cornerstone Assistant Network to help feed those that wont have enough for a proper Christmas Meal. $15 will feed a
needy family of 8-10 people.
well Im not, Living on Tulsa Time is, and in fact if you are seeing this, you are at its new home.
Where is this home? Tulsa's own Tulsa Connect,
I figure if Im going to have a page about and for Tulsa, I should use a
local host. Ive been with Tulsa Connect since they took over
cottagesoft.com/intcon.net and have had nothing but praise for their
customer service and technical knowhow. If you are needing an ISP (dial
up or DSL), or some webspace, give them a call.

On a side note, before the move, I made some "fixes" to the blog, like the number of comments showing up, and a spam filter. If you see anything broken on the site please let me know, Thanks!

Its that time of year again when Cornerstone Ministries

GenCon draws in
approximately 25,000 people and it is jam packed with things to do, so
much in fact you cant see it all... We Tried, and failed... Never-the-less we had a
great time. This was our third GenCon in as many years, but we are
probably going to take a break for a year or so, when things start to
become routine the luster begins to wear off… and I don’t want that to
happen yet
It’s amazing all the little things that God protective hand is involved in, two incidents this weekend really played that out for me. Let me start by laying the groundwork… The wife and I purchased a new home back in April, and we have been getting it ready to move into for the last few months, its been a long process, but when we are done we will be able to look back and feel a bit of pride. This last weekend we decided it was time to do a little flat roof replacement, yes it was hot, but the forecast said no rain until Wednesday… as we sat there, at 51st and Harvard, watching the rain come down Saturday evening, we couldn’t help but feel well helpless as our roof on the new house west of the river was not water proof. But just as God parted the water for the Jews escaping Egypt, God used the Arkansas River as the line in the sand, so to speak, and just a few drops of rain fell on the unfinished roof.
Just got back from the Christmas present my folks gave me, my wife my brother and themselves… a 7 day Caribbean cruise on the Carnival ship Elation to the Port of calls of Galveston, Progresso, Cozumel, and Belize. The weather was perfect, our cabin was small and on the interior, but it was good for what we used if for… sleeping. The first day on the ship was spent exploring after starting out in the hot tub with our friends David & Julie who moved their cruise schedule up to coincide with ours. We hit the Cole Porter Lounge in the back of the ship for Karaoke at least three times. The Ships cruise director started his career as a comedian which makes for some very funny monologues. Our head waiter in the Imagination Dining room was Robert, he is from the Philippines. Most everyone at our table seemed to recognize him but we couldn’t put a finger on it until Wednesday when we determined he look a lot like Jet Lee.
Our first port of call was Progreso in the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, after taking a bus ride down the worlds longest pier (6 miles) to the mainland we continued on to the Chichen Itza Ruins which contains one of the largest Mayan ruins, the central feature of Chichen Itza is “the Castle” which is a 70ft tall pyramid that you can climb, its 91 steps are steep and while going up isn’t a problem, going down is a whole different matter. While up on top I took some fantastic photos of the ball court, the Temple of the Warriors & the Group of 1000 columns and some other ruins that were not visible from ground level. Unfortunately, the heat got to Kim and she fell ill that night, she was better by the following morning.
Our second port of call was Cozumel, an island just off of the Yucatan peninsula, we didn’t partake in any of the excursions that Carnival offered up, instead we took a $15.00(US) Cab ride to a place called the paradise beach club where we did a bit of laying on the beach & snorkeling but the water was too choppy, and it was mostly overcast. (I did see what appeared to be a stripped bass). After we got our fill there we took a shopping trip through town, Kim picked up some silver and we got some items for the house (a large metal lizard you can hang on the wall, for instance)
Our last port of call was Belize, formerly British Honduras, our guide said that Belize is the only country to change their name and not tell anyone. We boarded tenders which took us from the Elation which was 5 rough miles from shore. The first part of our excursion took us out into the Caribbean Sea to the mouth of the River Wallace, where we were lucky to catch glimpses of Manatees, we then shot up the river, we saw several groupings of howler monkeys, iguanas (natives call them “bamboo chicken”), crocodiles, and approximately 10 miles up river, we run into two bottlenose dolphins feeding. Eventually we make our way to the resting place where we could have eaten or bought trinkets. It was in the upper 90s and it felt much hotter than that sitting out in that boat when it wasn’t moving, so I wanted to buy some (bottled) water. The little café did not have any available, so against my better judgment I ordered a Coke. Coke tastes different (much better) in Mexico & Central America because it is still made with real sugar, the Coke in the states is not the original formula they had before they introduced “new” Coke, it is now made with corn syrup as its sweetener. The second part of our tour took us into the Altun Ha Ruins, which before it was discovered they were using it as a rock quarry, so some of the structures could not be saved. This is where the famous 5 pound jade head was discovered. Though it wasn’t as big as Chichen Itza the structures seemed to be in better overall condition.
The last two days of the cruise were spend on board, eating, lazing around, and watching some really good entertainment. I even worked up the nerve to do some karaoke and eat some (cooked) sushi, twice no less!
