Stand by your party?

I will preface this by saying the only reason I am a registered Republican is because, in this state, they are the only "sanctioned" party that comes close to my beliefs. I am closer to a Constitutionalist or Libertarian, but since there are no primaries (or candidates) for these groups, I still want my voice heard.

That being said, there has been a lot of talk about how republicans should “stand behind their candidate”. I have to ask why? Bartlett didn’t stand behind LaFortune, Bartlett supported many tax increases and the unnecessary giving away of 7 million of our tax dollars. I don’t vote for labels, I vote for the person. The reason the political parties are so screwed up is they vote for the party, not the man.  "see the picture of the donkey/elephant? Put a mark buy that name"

A few years ago, David Duke (KKK grand wizard) ran as a republican in Louisiana. would these same Republicans, in the name of party unity, voted for him?

One has to ask, just what does the Republican Party stand for? And if they don’t hold their candidates to those standards, what is the point? As it stands the Bartlett would be right at home in the Democrat Party.

Don’t be a sheep and just follow your party… That’s the reason the country is in the shape it is in… Think for yourselves, dont be fooled into voting for something/someone that isnt what the "establishment" says it is.

BS meter rising

Tulsa made national news yesterday when it was reported that ABERCROMBIE & FITCH wouldnt hire a Muslim girl becasue of her wearing a hijab, a religiously mandated head scarf. (EDIT: Forgot to add, the reason it made news was, she is suing A&F)

A "religious" Muslim wanting to work at A&F?!? That would be like someone claiming they were a "religious" Christian wanting to work as a waitress at Hooters! (or better yet, a muslim wanting to work at a pizza parlor... you may have to think about that one for a minute).

It goes against their religious teachings, so they (you know she didnt act alone in this) are just doing this to use our laws against us.

The only reason Nancy was crying...

was because she knows that if the revolution comes, the "left" of this country wont be able to defend itself from those who believe in the right to bear arms...

Listen to the wind

On the eve of the anniversary of one of the worst things to happen on American soil, I was listening to the Atlanta Rhythm Section's song Listen to the Wind, which came out in 1989. It is a dark and ominous song, especially for ARS.

Listen to the wind
Blowin' like a hurricane
Screaming in our ears
Read between the lines
It doesn't take an Einstein
The message is quite clear
Skyscrapers tower above this town
But one of these days
It could all fall down

Wish I had a bag of gold
Buried in a hole
That could be my ace
A little piece of land
Where I could make a stand
That's for just in case
Everybody's living under the gun
There's no place to hide
And it's to late to run
Run, run, run for cover
You better run, run for cover

Take a look around you
The hour's getting late
The time bomb keeps ticking
We cant afford to wait
It's everybodys problem
It's yours as much as mine
We've got to find and answer
We're running out of time

Listen to the wind
Blowin' like a hurricane
Listen to the wind
Come on Listen to it
Listen to it, Listen to it

Skyscrapers tower above this town
But one of these days
It could all fall down
I don't know the answer
But I do know for sure
I don't want to be a soldier
in the third world war
I don't want to be a soldier

Take a look around you
The hour's getting late
The time bomb keeps ticking
We cant afford to wait
It's everybody's problem
It's yours as much as mine
We've got to find and answer
We're running out of time

Listen to the wind
Blowin' like a hurricane
Listen to the wind
Come on Listen to it
Listen to it, Listen to it

A tale of two races...

The last Mayoral Race consisted of an unproven millionaire carpetbagger vs. a disgraced incumbent.

In that race I supported LaFortune for several reasons. Even though he did some really stupid things, after his base & money bags deserted him in favor of Taylor, he realized he was just being used by the Mid-town interests. He seemed genuine in his “deathbed confession” and I believed he would do a better job than Taylor.

This race is different. We have a RINO in Bartlett(R), who supported Taylor(D) in her election bid against LaFortune(R), supported giving away 7 million of Tulsa taxpayers money to BOk for their stupid investment at the airport and supports raising taxes and even considered putting a toll road on the BA.

On the other side we have a real democrat, Tom Adelson, who had an A- rating from the NRA and voted for repealing the grocery tax, but has been on the wrong side of the abortion issue voting against a ban on state funded abortions, voting against a voter id requirement, voted against more local control of the schools and he voted against anything that would limit the payout to lawyers, such as Attorney Fee Limits, Tort Law Amendments, Regulating Attorney Election Contributions. As mayor, none of these things items should come into play.

On a side note, I find it interesting that the Tulsa GOP is against *Non-Partisan Elections, and asked the Republican candidates to sign a pledge saying they were against it. Funny thing is, the person who won the primary didn’t sign the pledge and endorsed a Democrat twice. Of course the party will still endorse the “Republican” in the race.

So, why vote for a fake Democrat, when you can have the real thing!

* In political science, nonpartisan denotes an election, event or organization in which the participants do not declare or do not formally have a political party affiliation.

Just a reminder...

... as to the real reason why the firefighters are campaigning.

It's because someone in the Fire Department falsified training records of its paramedics [story 1] [story 2] [story 3] [story 4]... In other words, they are mad cause they got caught doing something they werent supposed to.

Hard Work

We went to Woolaroc yesterday, this was posted under a bronze sculpture of Abvraham Lincoln.

Property is the fruit of labor...property is desirable...is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built. - Abraham Lincoln

The Big Picture...

Roemerman on Record has a blog entry concerning a campaign flyer that Dewey Bartlett sent out, and it makes me wonder... if he (or the people he surounds himself with) can't see the obvious problems in his own flyer, what makes you think the can see the obvious problems in our city?
