David?.... DAVID????

The governor, who talked about "moral absolutes" and God's law during his revealing, yet rambling news conference Wednesday, said King David "fell mightily, fell in very, very significant ways, but then picked up the pieces and built from there."

Governor Sanford, before you go comparing yourself to the great King of Israel, maybe you need to study to find out what really happened because of his adultery.

2 Samuel, 12:10,11

10Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.' 11Thus says the LORD, 'Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. 12For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.'"

Cap & Tax

I have not had a chance to confirm this article that was sent to me, but I dont see anything in it that is out of line from what I have been hearing... get ready for your energy bills to skyrocket...

This came from our electric provider, TRI-COUNTY ELECTRIC, in their June, 2009 newsletter called OKLAHOMA LIVING, p. 6.
"The Energy & Commerce Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives began "markup" of a revised climate change/ energy bill on Monday, May 18, with Chariman, Henry Waxman (D-Calif) saying he expects the panel to approve the measure before the Memorial Day recess........

Larry Watkins, chief executive officer for the Oklahoma Assoc. Of Electric Cooperatives, said impacts to electric consumers in Oklahoma will largely depend on the price fluctuations of carbon dioxide allowances to be auctioned in a "cap and trade" allocation system being proposed in the bill.  For example, if the auction price of a metric ton of CO2 allowance is $20 per ton, then our consumers here in Oklahoma could expect a 19% increase in the cost of their electricity..... If the CO2 cost allowance at auction rises to $50 per ton, then residential cost could go up by more than 46%."

This is how it will affect your state:   [I get the impression from looking at this that the states that voted for Obama are not going to be taxed as much as the rest of them -- but this is obviously not true in every case].

Build it and they will come...

We've all heard this starting with the Arena, which though it is apparently off to a good start, it will never pay for itself.

One (new) reason for this is the new downtown ballpark (yearly maintenence, and eventual declining useage are two others). Again, they are saying, if we build it, they will come, the problem with that saying this time is that they are taxing the very area that they want people to come to. What business in their right mind, especially one that would not directly (or even indirectly) benefit from the ball park want to pay more taxes, just for the benefit of being inside the "loop"? I can guess that we will have even more empty buildings downtown once the full impact of this tax is felt.

This leads me to our own "bridge to nowhere". for those who do not know, there are plans afoot to make a pedestrian bridge across the river at 41st street. just what is on the other side of the river at 41st? nothing, nil and nada... at least nothing that a pedestrian would want to go to. If they want development on the west side, a pedestrian bridge is not going to do anything, it needs an automotive bridge, one with "city" speed limits.

Once real useable infrastructure is built up, businesses and other entities will come, just look to Tulsa Hills as an example, it is booming, and getting more traffic on a daily basis from my observations.

Buy GM, buy American?

After all the dust has settled ::cough:: I would rather buy a "foreign" car like Honda or Toyota, which is made in the USA, than an "American" car that is made in China.

Couldn't get away with this today...

I mean with all the safety regulations and such... I mean, not wearing helmets, what were they thinking?

The reasons jokes are funny...

... is because there is usually a grain of truth to them.
Last April fool's day, Car and Driver let out the story titled:

'Obama Orders Chevrolet and Dodge Out of NASCAR'

It was a believable joke because of the things Obama was (and still is) doing concerning the strings attached to the "stimulus" funds... well it is no longer April's fools day, and here is today's headline on ESPN:

General Motors set to make NASCAR-wide cuts
