Awkward stage

"None of these layoffs are as a result of the BOK, One Technology Center or ball park. They are due to one thing, the city's revenue has decreased," said Mayor Kathy Taylor.
so where did the money for the BoK, One Technology center and the ball park come from?
It was just announced that 21 police officers will be laid off, and according to the COPS program 3.5 million is what is needed to pay for 18 Police officers for a 3 year period.
So it stands to reason if Dewey Bartlett didnt needlessly give away 7.1 million of our tax dollars to BoK, not only would we not have to lay any police officers off, we could have hired an additional 15 police officers with out taking any gov't money.
Thanks Dewey & Kathy!
With republicans like Dewey, who needs democrats!
"Let me get this straight. We're going to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it, signed by a president that also hasn't read it and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's nearly broke." - Unknown
I thought I had read this before elsewhere... Thanks Tulsa Chiggers
Now its Obama's turn to crank up the threat of swine flu... so just what else does the National Emergency declaration allow the health chief the power to do?
Obama offers millions in Muslim technology fund
For the last few years we've been told our taxes are low, and so we can afford just a little bit more for Vision 2025, 4 to Fix the county, the "islands in the stream", and others. Apparently we were ::gasp:: LIED TO!
According to the Tax Foundation we rank 4th in combined local and state taxes.
Now I have to ask as you drive over our pothole ridden streets, and watch the stories of the crime rate rising in this city, do you feel we are getting a good deal for all those taxes we pay?
Meanwhile we have a couple of apparent juvenile delinquents running for Tulsa Mayor... the futures not looking too bright right now...
So Tulsa is getting a(nother) basketball team that we won’t support. We have been told that the taxpayers won’t have to foot any of the bill… does that mean the WNBA is going to pick up the $200,000 in police overtime that Palmer says it will take to patrol the games at the BoK?
In case you forgot… Chief Palmer says this BOK-related overtime will definitely deplete the current police overtime budget before the year ends in June 2009, adding that for every ten events at the BOK, it will cost the City at least $100,000 in police overtime hours. (The Detroit Shock had 19 home games last season)
With the Mao followers in the White House being exposed, it should make you wonder just what kind of change Obama was really talking about...
Change must come through the barrel of a gun - Mao Zedong
It should concern everyone that the policies of the man that is an inspiration to some in Obama's circle was responsible for the deaths of between 40 to 60 million people.
Continually supporting the lesser evil means you are a reliable servant of evil. - Vox Day
Unfortunatly, for the last several general election cycles, we've had no choice...
The media destroyed Rush's chance to be a part owner in the NFL, thanks to some fake quotes found on Wikipedia, which "proved" he was racist... well here are some real democrat quotes that prove they are the real racists...
"Nobody, no individual nor
country, can indefinitely spend more than she or he earns. Two plus two
always adds up to four, never five," [...] "Within the conditions of
our imperfect socialism, due to our own shortcomings, two plus two
often adds up to three." - Raúl Castro, September 2009
They wouldnt have to cut the budget!
Nov 11, 2008 - In the fiscal year that ended in June, the city paid $11 million in overtime, more than $4 million over budget.
The year before, the city paid $9.6 million, almost $3 million over budget.
and I thoght the BoK was supposed to cure all our ailments...
But the Mayor has a "great" idea...
The mayor says she has an alternative plan that will cut the three-million dollars. Some suggestions include eliminating 18 more positions and canceling the police academy scheduled for March.
Won't that just increase the overtime paid out?
But Wait! There's More! What about the Community Oriented Policing Services grant, that was approved by the City Council? you know the one... that will "give" the city 3.5 million dollars for... wait for it... 18 new positions!
Just how far away are any one of us away from breaking some of these obscure laws/rules?
"He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future." - Adolph Hitler
Now compare that to our education system and current event concerning children and singing praises to our "Dear Leader"
1) Tort Reform… now I’m not talking about limiting rewards in legitimate cases, but instead I’m referring to frivolous lawsuits which clog the court system, waste a Dr’s time, and increase malpractice insurance. If a case is deemed to be frivolous, then the plaintiff must pay court costs, and the wages of the Dr. for the time he had to spend defending the case. There will still be those that will try and work the system, but it should cut down the number of cases.
2) Ban advertising by pharmaceutical companies outside of trade magazines. A study showed a few years ago that pharmaceuticals spend 2x more on advertising than they do research, advertising has increased 330% in the last decade. This will stop self diagnosis, which more often than not leads to wasting the Drs time, but he has to run tests to cover his ass.
3) Allow insurance companies to compete across state lines, this will open up the pool of clients, which should drive down the price.
4) Allow small businesses to pool their resources in a co-op (not like the Government’s plan) which will allow them to lower costs through better buying power.
There is one more issue that the gov’t could do to help out those who have lost their jobs. They could assist with the COBRA plan. For those who are unfamiliar with COBRA, the recently released employee can stay on the company plan, but they must pay full price for it. Most avoid this because they cannot afford the lost of a paycheck AND having to pay up to 3x what they were paying for insurance. The Gov’t assist would pay the difference between the full price and the (former) employee’s contribution until COBRA runs out or until a new insurance policy is obtained.
Everyone else would default to Medicaid
