The Headline on Yahoo! reads:

Alaska's largest newspaper endorses Obama

Well heres something for a little perspective:

Anchorage Daily News endorses KERRY
and
Anchorage Daily News endorses GORE

Are we there yet?

"When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic" - Unknown Source

This quote popped into my head this morning after hearing "George" on the Pat Campbell show on 1170 KFAQ, so I decided to do a quick google to see if I could find out who the quote was attributed from... apparently this quote has popped into a lot of peoples heads recently...

Would the Last Honest Reporter Please Turn On the Lights?

An open letter to the local daily paper -- almost every local daily paper in America:

Loss of support?

Biden has made a statement that if Obama is elected president something will happen and “he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

What does that mean… it probably doesnt mean surrender or non action, cause his supporters would welcome that, it also probably doesn’t mean going to war, ‘cause the Democrats didn’t seem to care when we went into Bosnia under Clinton. So what does that leave? I’m guessing stripping the very rights away from his supporters, as in martial law.

Is this tin foil hat territory, or is Biden talking outta his butt (again)?

Digging a hole...

A new musical has debuted at the Melbourne, Vic., Australia, Fringe Festival based on the 2006 cave-in of a gold mine in Beaconsfield, Tasmania, which killed one miner.

Dan Ilic, the author of the musical, says he was "astonished" with media coverage of the cave-in, which he called "insensitive". He titled it "Beaconsfield: A Musical in A-Flat Minor" -- "A-Flat Minor" for short -- to get publicity, he said. Ilic changed it after the dead miner's family expressed outrage. Hottie Pickles Subs and Burgers

UPDATE: Hotties is now only open Mon-Fri 11:00AM to 3:00PM
UPDATE #2: Hotties is now closed

A new restaurant from an older endeavor...

I think it was three years ago I was in the made in Oklahoma section of the Tulsa State Fair checking out the various salsas and BBQ sauces. One booths, Hottie Pickles, had a combination sweet and hot pickle. Even though they were good I didn't give them much thought after that, probably because it is so hard to find things like that while doing your normal shopping routine.

Fast-forward to earlier this year, around September. We were disappointed to find out the "new" Ike’s Chili on Union & 51st had already closed, but a new restaurant was going in, sadly I didn't connect the name to the vendor at the fair.

Last week we decided to give them a try (and again last night, and again for lunch today). They serve up build your own subs, a really nice Philly Beef Steak and some pretty good cheeseburgers & fries, all at reasonable prices. A couple of combo meals will run you about $12.00.

The atmosphere isn't much to talk about, but like many upstart diners, I'm sure that will improve as business grows, and I hope it does, cause they have one of the best Philly beefs I've had in a long time.

And if you like their Hottie Pickles, they have those for sale as well!

Georgianna removes endorsement...

For some reason Georgianna Oliver removed her endorsement from ACORN off of her website

(from Googles cache)

It's too bad she forgot to remove the endorsement letter:
http://www.oliverforuscongress.com/PDF/Endorsement-Acorn.pdf

Once she finds out the mistake, it will be gone too, so I have a copy right here for you to read.

as your 401k statement come in...

Please be sure to thank the Democrats for making the economy tank with the behind the scenes dealings with Freddie and Fannie. I’m looking at my balance and I see I have lost well over 20% of my retirement thanks to those bozos.

And just think, if Obama is elected, there will be no one to restrain those that put us in this mess in the first place. Frank, Dodd, Pelosi will be able to do whatever they please. There won’t be enough republicans in office to stop them and Obama will sign whatever they tell him to sign.

Schlep this!

In case you havent heard, Jewish grandchildren are being encouraged to encourage their grandparents to vote for Obama...

Before the Grandparents commit, maybe they need to read what Jesse Jackson says Obama has in store for America's relations with Israel:

The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would end.

Jackson believes that, although "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.

----

Jackson is especially critical of President Bush's approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

"Bush was so afraid of a snafu and of upsetting Israel that he gave the whole thing a miss," Jackson says. "Barack will change that," because, as long as the Palestinians haven't seen justice, the Middle East will "remain a source of danger to us all."

"Barack is determined to repair our relations with the world of Islam and Muslims," Jackson says. "Thanks to his background and ecumenical approach, he knows how Muslims feel while remaining committed to his own faith."

One big Questionable...

If you want to add up all the conspiracy theories into one place (not saying they are all true or not, but some straight forward answers or documentation from Obama would clear a lot of these up).

What we have in Obama is a person who is claimed to be the Messiah, of questionable birth, and questionable religious beliefs, with questionable motives & experience, who associates himself with questionable people and organizations, that if elected will be a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

Squandered Opportunity

Back when Tulsa had money and the economy was "good", those in power thought it would be a good idea to build an arena, repay BoK for a failed airline, and to move city hall to the most expensive building downtown.

Now that the economy has taken a nose-dive they want you and me to pay more in taxes to do something they should have been doing all along... fixing our roads.

Im sure they already know this... it aint gonna pass...

Maybe when everything turns around again, they will get their priorities straight and... nah... who am I trying to kid?

Scary Quotes...

"Starting in January … we have to rewrite how we finance in America," said House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank (Mass.), House Democrats' chief negotiator on the bill. He predicted that the legislative program will be "comparable to what Franklin Roosevelt did in the New Deal."

"
The polls all show that we have a chance to win at least 11 seats.  That's more than enough for the filibuster-proof majority we will need to bring some of the most important changes of our lifetime." – Donna Brazile

This is the sole reason we need McCain needs to be there to stop a "full house."

Its official...

Presiden Bush has become the worst president in US history.
Former President Carter will be thanking him in a phone conversation tonight
