Ted, you helped break the system 42 years ago, you lied 21 years ago when you said we would secure the borders. and now you want to do something? Havent you done enough?

So now the city wants to come back and grab more money from the citizens of Tulsa, this time its for some low water dams on the Arkansas... I know the will of the people was for river development but instead we got pocket parks downtown, pools in other citys when we cant keep our own open (15 public pools closed this summer), & we get a 200 million $$$ Arena that will lose money while Broken Arrow got the Bass Pro Shop (and they are doing quite well thanks to it). So now they say they want to come back and "prioritize" the river... or do they?
Didnt we already approve low water dams for the river?

Vision 2025 funds will be utilized to construct two low water dams, which along with Zink Lake, will provide a series of lakes in the Arkansas River corridor. These low water dams will enhance the Tulsa area’s most visible physical asset by creating a series of urban lakes within the river channel. The more consistent water level in the river will add to its scenic beauty while also enhancing fishing and support other water-based recreational activities. This local funding is a key component in attracting federal money for the dams and other river channel improvements and will also serve as a catalyst for private investment. This series of lakes, created by low water dams and other improvements in the corridor, will make the Arkansas River more attractive and usable year round. Exact locations of the dams will be determined by a planning and engineering study, which is part of the upcoming Arkansas River Corridor Master Plan which is being conducted in partnership with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and local stakeholders.

This is what we voted for, so who are they trying to buy off THIS time?

Unfortunately this isn’t about a cookie, it’s about a chip that some Dr.’s want to implant in their patients that store vital information. 

So what other uses have been offered up?

Chips in immigrants to keep track of them.
Chips for Alzheimer patients to find them if they get lost.

In each case they sound like good intenetions, but we all know where that leads...

Tulsa lost out on the 2011 Mayors conference because "Tulsa has too few downtown hotel rooms within walking distance of convention facilities". I have been saying that since before the Vision 2025 vote came about. and I can say right now that adding an arena with nothgin to play in it isnt going to help bring hotels in, in fact we only had one prospect bite on the property across the street from it, and they wanted a 30 million dollar handout! (not to mention tearing out our brand new bus depot).

So what is the solution? well it isnt moving city hall, it isn't redoing the plaza (again),  and it isn't the arena. The gov't needs to step back and do what gov't is supposed to do. fix our roads, make the city safe, and maybe through zoning they can set up a tax free zone inside the loop that might pave the way for real development.

That wont happen as long as we keep allowing them to take money out of our pockets with no results. It really makes you wonder why they placed the Arena where they did now doesnt it?

According to a recent report, Oklahoma ranked 34th in the nation for personal income growth. One person attributes that to a decline in farming, to which I call BS! Farmers are subsidized by the federal gov't they get their money one way or another (ranking 18th out of 50). No, the loss in income is from the loss of skilled workers either leaving the state, or losing their jobs and having to settle for call centers to make ends meet.

In a previous post I was asking what Bush was doing. It has long been speculated that Blair was nothing more than a puppet to the Bush presidency, Im begingin to think its the other way around. There is a new push to create a new EU "Super State", with Blair as its President. If you look at the state of Britain right now, it is being overrun by Muslims, both illegally in the nation and by birth. Its crime rate is up which was partially used as a catalyst to install 4.2 million surveillance cameras, as well as Blairs push for ID cards. If Blair allowed that to happen under his watch in the UK, what will become of the EU?

In a rare appearance on the hill today President Bush said, concerning illegal immigration, that the Status quo is unacceptable and on that statement I can agree. however the status quo he wants fixed and the status quo that the American people want fixed seem to be miles apart. here are the status quo items that I think need to be fixed.

1) Secure the Border. We cannot have serious terrorist protection if they can just sneak in over our borders. And we wont stop more illegals from coming over without some sort of security

2) Enforce the Law. If this had been done since 1986 when the last amnesty program happened, we wouldnt be where we are today. There needs to be some sort of punishment meeted out to those who provide a sactuary status to illegals (Im looking at you Mayor Taylor!)

3) Quit providing Gov't handouts. We have millions of our own people who need assistance, why should they be forced to the back of the line? To me its like the whole minimum wage hike, people dont understand that not only are those who are working their butts off to make ends meet will get the "raise" but so will the lazy who are just their for a paycheck so they can go out and buy beer!

4) Go after employers who knowingly hire illegals. in combination with #3 if the money flow is turned off, there will be no incentive to come here, we wont have to round them up, they will go back on their own!

5) Make it easier to come to this country legally. There are some hard working Hispanics out there that really do want to become American citizens. Find them & work with them, they will be a valuable assett to our country

At a meeting tonight there was a discussion about a flurry of construction activity concerning noise mitigation in the neighborhoods around the airport.

It was apparent to everyone there that the new contractors were trying to get as much done to get their contracts filled before the new contract was to be negotiated in September. The reason is the people doing the sound abatement will receive more money in administrative fees if they do work on houses than if the houses are bought out. It was also discussed that there is less work being done on the houses (just storm doors and windows), for about the same amount of money that Cinnabar received.

Unfortunately what some of the home owners who accepted the sound abatement program didnt know was that the federal Gov't has equity in their house, so if $45,000 was put into the house by the feds, $45,000 will be taken out of the final price when the airport eventually buys out the house.

I'm sure some of you have seen it, there is a piece of spam floating around that well intentioned people have been forwarding called "financial help" or some other such nonsense, which basically says to recite the prayer enclosed in the email and your dept will be eliminated by God.

As silly as that seems there is apparently a group of people that believe that this is how God works... I"m not saying he can't work that way if he wants, but he in not some magic genie that will grant you wishes and then when you are done with him you put him back in his bottle.

While listening to the Laura Ingram show the other day, they were talking about the whole illegal alien issue and a legal immigrant from Mexico was asked about the "faith" issue. She said that as a whole the Mexican people basically treat God as a magic genie.

Even here in Tulsa there are churches that believe in the health and prosperity doctrine, which operate on the same principle, that is that God will reward the faithful with health and wealth... Ill tell you this, The Apostile Paul's life would have been a lot easier if that was the case.

By the end of the year the top name given to boys in Britain will be Mohammad, the UK (and most of Europe for that matter) has been invaded by immigrants who hold no regard for the country in which they are moving into. How much more of Tulsa needs to be destroyed before there is nothing left to make it special? When will the citizens of Tulsa wake up and demand that the landmarks that makes Tulsa unique should not be destroyed... they must be preserved!

On a side note, I see that the Camelot is to be razed, and though it saddens me since it has been a part of my life, it is time for her to go... another victim of neglect in the name of "progress"

In what may be Tulsa’s best kept secret, is a little English style pub and restaurant just north of 71^st and Canton (east of Yale at the next light).

Inside the now smoke free environment you will find a quaint, and quiet dining experience with some food that is hard to beat! I was with a group of 8 people last Saturday night so I got a good sampling of what they had available. We started with 3 of the appetizers (sausage rolls, mushrooms and toast and cheese and toast) then for dinner, the Beef Wellington, Fish and Chips, The Beefeater (burger), the Devonshire (a chicken dish with a pastry baked on top), and the Ploughman’s Lunch (bread, ham and an assortment of cheese) were ordered. If you aren’t a risk taker start with the fish and chips or the DevonshireThe atmosphere is what you would expect a pub from the old country to look like, with the furnishings coming from the owner’s native country.

We will deifnitally be going back, but with a seating capacity of 75 you might want to make reservations.

Here are just a few examples: there has been more coverage of the Democrats for the primaries this election cycle, Bush can do no right and is an idiot who has single handedly masterminded the destruction of America, good news coming out of Iraq is ignored while the bad is trumped up, and any republican faux-pas is trumpeted for all to see, but only the most egregious slip ups by the democrats are reported on, and in entertainment Christains are portrayed as villians or oafs.
