Take me to your Leader
As I climb onto your back, I will promise not to sting
I will tell you what you want to hear and not mean anything
Then I treat you like a dog, as I shoot my venom in
You pretend you didn't know, that I am a scorpion
Megadeth – The Scorpion
For me the presidency comes down to three issues...
Our nation’s sovereignty, the ability of its citizens to defend the sovereignty of the nation, and a strong support of Israel. If we can’t (or won't) protect our country, ourselves and our allies then what’s the point?
On the matter of our nation’s sovereignty, our last three presidents (with generous support from the congress and senate) have sold us out to the UN, China, the Middle East and Latin America. NAFTA, CAFTA, China’s favored trading partner status, and the North American corridor have done more harm than good. Our jobs are being exported to the lowest bidder or handed over to illegal foreigners. Meanwhile, thanks to unscrupulous businessmen and bankers we have been put in a position where we are being purchased bit by bit by the Chinese government.
We need to stop the flow of illegal immigrants, and the sure-fire way of sending them back home is to remove their primary reason for being here. . . money. Oklahoma’s HB1804 stops them by drying up the sources for the money by punishing those who hire them in the first place. But we need a leader who will make that stand.
I’m afraid the above situations are moving the nation to the brink of civil war, or (with one illegal immigrant coming into the USA every 30 seconds) a full-fledged foreign invasion. Katrina, and to a smaller scale the Tulsa ice storm, showed just how ill prepared the vast majority of people are in the event of an emergency, what happens in the case of an epidemic or terrorist attack? Are you prepared? Can you provide for your family and protect what is yours? Remember, it is the Second Amendment that gives the rest of the Constitution its teeth.
Since Jimmy Carter’s reign of terror, our nation has tried to carve up Israel to appease the terrorists in that area of the world, while our own history consists of conquering other peoples and taking their land. We need a president who will stand behind Israel, give them real support, and quit pushing them into a corner. Her enemies only want one outcome. . . her destruction, what is going to happen will happen, but shouldn’t we be on the right side of the conflict?
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Genesis 12:2-3 (KJV)
I used to be a one issue voter (abortion) but now there are bigger fish to fry. After all "we the people" have done a lousy job concerning abortion. If this nation really is 80% "Christian" then that issue shouldn’t even be on the radar. Yet with close to 1,000,000 abortions a year that tells me we have a morality problem and electing a certain person to office won’t fix that.
What this country needs is a strong leader, one with principles, one who means what he says, and says what he means. Unfortunately none of the crop of candidates meets all these needs.
Guliani is a strong leader & he proved that with his handling of 9-11 plus being mayor of NY means he was in charge of the 16th largest economy in the world, but he has a load of moral baggage that would make a democrat squeamish.
Romney talks a good talk, but I don’t trust a person who won’t defend their faith. I think I would rather have an atheist in office than one who is a member of a secretive cult.
Thompson hits the nail on the head with most issues but hasn’t shown that he can lead, his campaign by all accounts has been an abysmal failure. He was touted as the next Reagan, but Bob Dole could run circles around him in terms of energy, organization and leadership.
And Huckabee, as much as I like the way he sounds, did have issues with immigration and taxes (but is now for the fair tax). Like he said, things change when you go from a local viewpoint to a national one
Speaking of immigration, I cannot fault any candidate who at least tried to tackle the issue of illegal immigration. Guliani, Romney and Huckabee did what they could when the Federal gov’t turned its back on them, sure they could turn them over to INS only to have them re-released back into the general population.
Remember, it wasn’t until last year that the people finally got fed up with illegals and the lack of support by the federal gov’t.
