Some Other Disease?

In today’s Tulsa World, our mayor tried to make her case for Gun Control, saying that Three-quarters of homicides are with guns, and most of them are obtained illegally.
In and of itself that is not necessarily wrong, at least until you get to what she is trying to accomplish. If the Guns are obtained illegally, then the cops aren’t doing their job, since it is CRIMINALS (you know the guys that DONT OBEY the laws) that are acquiring these guns. If the cops would actually arrest, prosecutors actually prosecute and judges actually sentence these scumbags, the problem would be greatly diminished.

Instead, people like Taylor want to go after the law abiding people, they are an easier target, since they obey the law. (not to mention the lack of officers on the streets)

reminds me of an old bumper sticker:
when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns
think about that one for a moment, by outlawing guns, if you own one, you automatically become a criminal

but in the story she also made this statement
If 30,000 people were dying from some other disease, we would be up in arms

you mean like tobacco? 430,700 people die a year
or maybe alcohol? 110,640 people die a year

of course her per year numbers for homicide are also inflated, which actually sits at about 20,000, so her 3/4 estimate knocks her 30,000 down to 15,000...

Tattoo You!

Cattle branding comes to the 21st Century

An RFID Tattoo that can be used to track cattle... heres the line that should set off the warning bells "what works for animals can, of course, also work for people"

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666" (Rev. 13:16-18)

Iran whining

Iran to complain to UN over arrests in Iraq

You know sad thing is? They will get listened to even though Iran have snubbed their nose at every request by the UN concerning their Nuclear Program...

'lites out, uh-huh

Blast! Blast! Blast!

While we’ve been busy buying cheap Chinese goods, the Chinese Government have been using our money to develop weapons systems, like the one above, to destroy satellites. When our satellites are gone we will have no way of knowing what they are up to.
One of these days the US is in for a rude awakening, and by that time it will be too late... it may already be too late.

Breaking her word...

Next Tuesday, Layman Van Acres was going to have a neighborhood meeting, but this wasn’t just any meeting, the mayor was scheduled to be there to hear their concerns on the Airport, the Noise Mitigation Program, Spartan’s expansion and the remainder of "the field".

That meeting has been cancelled. The mayor is going to the Roy Clark Tribute instead. Never mind she knew about the tribute before she agreed to appear, in fact she told Councilor Turner that she can attend both... back in December. So people of the neighborhood went door to door to let people know of this important meeting for no reason, I guess they just don’t have enough money to bend the mayor's ear.

Time for a play off system...

Florida’s thumping of #1 Ohio for the BCS title and USC throttling of Michigan just illustrates the need for a playoff system.

Was the Big 10 just over rated or was it because Ohio State had not played since they played former #2 Michigan November 18th… 51 days ago (7 weekends).

If they cant figure out how to put a playoff system in that timeframe using the bowls they already have, I don’t know what to say...

Citizen calls for national day of prayer

We need a national day of prayer calling for God's guidance and
protection.  Or political and military leaders need His guidance for
the decisions on Iraq and Afghanistan policies. Our troops need His
protection and intervention. We need to pray that we will be doing
God's plan for His glory, not that he do ours.

It is apparent that the only way for success in Iraq (as well as
continued success in Afghanistan) is through divine intervention with
us as a nation following His plan, not ours. The nation needs to
support our troops by returning to the founding principles of our
country. Remember, we are "one nation under God" and "in God we
trust."

On Sunday, Jan. 14, please pray (whether in church, at home,
traveling, etc.) for His guidance and protection. Pray also for our
nation's leaders to call for a national day of prayer. Then pray that
they will listen to His guidance. Please contact congressional
representatives, governors, mayors, the president and church leaders
to encourage them in this endeavor. Our military needs to be contacted
to let them know we are praying for and supporting them. We also need
to invite them to add their prayers.

May God bless your efforts.

Album Sales Drop... Again

According to this article, Album sales have dropped for a seventh consecutive year, whiloe digital music is seeing strong sales...

I see reasoning for the drop in three areas.

1) People have finished up replacing their Old Vinyl and Cassettes with CDs

2) Very little is being produced that people want to buy

3) Radio just doesnt work for music anymore, just flip through the dial around Tulsa, you hear the same song over and over again till you are sick of it.

Napster and its ilk allowed you to try new music RISK FREE, if you liked what you heard you went out to find more of the same and in most cases bought the CD. It was a double edged sword for the music industry though, not only could you download the hits you could also find out if the rest of the album was filler. Are you familier with the term one hit wonders? most of them only had one hit becasue that was all anyone could stand to listen to!

Buffalo Wild Wings

Though it took over 4 months for them to open from their original timeline, the Tulsa area now has a Buffalo Wild Wings, and it was worth the wait!

As you can guess by the name they serve up Buffalo, NY style hot wings (traditional and boneless) with 14 different sauces to choose from. My personal favorites are Spicy Garlic and  Caribbean Jerk, but we have also tried and liked the Mango Habanero, Asian Zing, Sweet BBQ, Teriyaki and the more traditional Blazin. If you dont want to stick with one flavor (I know I dont) you may try several sauces with your order, how many is determined by how many wings you buy. The wings are a good size and cooked right.

The service was good, keeping in mind it was opening day. The dinning room is split in two to conform with smoking regulations and on each side there are Large screen and regular sized TVs that line the walls showing various sporting events that are going on at the time. The prices are what you would expect to pay for a hot wing, coming in at about 50 cents a wing (35 cents on Tuesday)

Besides wings they also have ribs, burgers, nachos, onion rings and a whole slew of similer styled foods on the menu, none of which I have tried... I go there for the wings!

A word of warning, the driving instructions are wrong, its on the same corner as Lowe’s at Kenosha and North 23rd Street (71st & 169th E Ave)

Mad Okie gives them 2 really messy thumbs up!
