The things they find in bogs these days...

As mentioned by Patrick in the comment section of my previous post, a very old version of the book of Psalm, written in Latin dating back to 800-1000AD, was found in a bog in central Ireland.

That in and of itself is amazing that a book could survive in those conditions for over 1000 years, but the man who discovered it was operating a backhoe when he spotted it in the freshly excavate dirt.

But that is not the most amazing part, some would say it was merely a coincidence. the book was opened to the 83rd Psalm:

1 Do not keep silent, O God!
Do not hold Your peace,
And do not be still, O God!
2 For behold, Your enemies make a tumult;
And those who hate You have lifted up their head.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people,
And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.
4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more
.”
5 For they have consulted together with one consent;
They form a confederacy against You:

The Economy is slowing down...

Inflation is on the rise...

And the Republicans want to raise the minimum wage.

With Republicans like this, who needs Democrats?

Is he the one?

"Here is wisdom. Let he who has understanding calculate the number of the Beast; for his number is that of a man; and his number is 666". Rev:13:18

In October 1999, Javier Solana became the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU, because of the resolution numbers directly related to him, some are saying he may be the antichrist. The first document created the position he now holds, as found in Section 666 of the Europa archived documents. The second document was penned by himself, called for special powers to be given to the High Representative, enabling him to take control of European political and military councils in the event of an emergency, this document is named Recommendation 666.

Surly Satan wouldn’t be so blatant as to insert the antichrist in this fashion, or have our hearts become so hard that we would ignore even the most obvious signs? I believe it was less than 60 years ago that the fig tree bloomed, which is required for the whole cycle to start. I’m not going to make any predictions, for it is ignorant to do so. But something is brewing, something big.

Luke 21:29-32:
21:29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
21:30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
21:31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
21:32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

Are you ready?

What's the point?

Polly Klaas' Killer Survives Death Row Overdose

SAN QUENTIN, Calif. — The death row inmate convicted of kidnapping and murdering 12-year-old Polly Klaas more than a decade ago overdosed on opiates in his prison cell but was revived, prison officials said.

I dont really have anything to say...

Its a simple solution, really...

LEARN ENGLISH!

Some patients in Tulsa area hospitals are saying they are not getting the help they need all because of a language barrier.

To paraphrase Ben Franklin....

"Those who are willing to sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither."

Poll finds Oklahomans back security measures: A majority of respondents say they would surrender some freedoms for greater security.

Look! Up in the sky!

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No! It's Swabman

Able to stop all crime (even though we STILL don’t have enough police on the roads & the academy was cancelled)

Prosecute more cases (even though you can’t prosecute unless there is evidence)

And even has the endorsement of the FOP! (Didn’t they also endorse Miller who came in 3rd, and Taylor, who cut the academy?)

Don't Blame Me, I Voted for Kerry

Those are the words I saw on a bumper sticker

Here's my reply:

Still think we got the better end of the deal?

Land Deal Close for 500,000-SF-Plus Project

The developer of Stone Wood Hills expects to hand off a 39-acre tract in August to a major regional retail player after a deal cratered in May with a Dallas-based group to build upward of 500,000 sf of retail and office space.

The development site sits on a hill overlooking Bass Pro Shops.

So in the area of Bass Pro Shop we have or soon will have Stone Wood Hills, Buffalo Wild Wings, Los Cabos, Runts Barbecue, Steak & Shake, Lone Star Steakhouse,  A 127-room Holiday Inn, a 100-room Marriott flag, plus so much more!

Yeah, Ill take an empty arena built in an area where NONE of the above could be built over a Bass Pro Shop any day!!

If you keep lowering the bar...

Its easy to make your goal!

from todays Tulsa World:
" The Oklahoma Lottery has made its goal of raising $65 million for education"

Back in 2002, while campaigning for Governor, Brad Henry said an education lottery would bring in $500 million in new funding for education.

After taking office in 2003, that guess-timate was lowered to $300 million

In 2005 the Lottery Commision said the lottery was going to bring in less than $130 million when fully inplemented.

well I guess by the last admission, they did make their goal of less than $130 million!

And revenue will only go downhill from here...

One more quote from the article:

"In our first 262 days of sales, we effectively raised $248,091 every single day for education. That is something all of us are very proud of."

Proud of? most people who buy lottery tickets really cant afford them in the first place... so I guess if you like feeding the education system off of the backs of the poor, then you have something to be proud of...

(S
tudies show that the heaviest lottery players -- the 20% of players who contribute 82% of lottery revenue -- disproportionately are low-income, minority men who have less than a college education.)

Would the FCC fine CNN...

...if they broadcast this?

Wow! Thanks!

The George Kaiser Family Foundation, with George Kaiser being chairman of the Bank of Oklahoma, the same BoK who was instrumental in force feeding us Vision 2025, and from all angles looks like they got a deal on naming rights in exchange for the Great Plains loan, now want to loan money to help with the cost overruns on the arena...

Kaiser Foundation To Loan Money For Arena Overages

Notice: I have read two different versions, one being that this is a loan, the other is a donation, obviously a loan has to be paid back...either way, there is a line in that other story that really gets my blood boiling...

"Before the Vision 2025 vote, the foundation expressed an interest in funding projects along the river, and has since donated millions of dollars to the University of Oklahoma."

A case of Kerryitis?

They voted for the fence before they voted against it?

Senate denies funds for new border fence

This is just another example where those in charge are out of touch with the American people, out of control, just playing lip service or, in the worst case scenario, selling us out....

If they build it, they will come...

Unfortunately, that doesn’t apply to things like land locked Arenas with no place to actually grow, like those in power are trying to make us believe. This applies to attractions that people can go to everyday… like the Bass Pro Shop that we gave to Broken Arrow to get their support for Vision 2025.

Grant Stewart, KMO broker, said signing (Buffalo Wild) Wings was a score for the development and a strong sign that bright days are ahead.

"We've been searching, talking to some restaurant guys and then we met Steve Howard," Stewart said. "He looked at the Bass Pro area and ours and decided he wanted to be out here with us."

ok, well maybe Tulsa proper will be the location for the next one...

"I think our next move in the Tulsa market will be Owasso," Howard said.

or not...

The county is getting how much?

Property taxes in Oklahoma goes towards Education and county responsibilities (among other things)... so whay arent Tulsa's schools top in the state?

Tulsa Property Tax Millage map

Since we have the highest rate in the state, we should have the best schools, right?

World War III

New York Daily News proclaims its WWIII

Kim Jong Il test firing missiles and sabre rattling.
Japan pressing for preemptive strikes against North Korea.
Al Qaeda in the middle east.
China building up it's military faster than Hitler prior to WWII.
160 dead, 700 injured because of a train blast in India.
President Ahmadinejad of Iran developing Nukes.
Hugo Chavez seeks Oil For Arms Deal with North Korea
and last but not least, Israel and Hizbollah/Hamas in open warfare, dragging other countries into the conflict.

For there to be a 7 year peace agreement to become relevant, there needs to be war!

Dead but not forgotten

Today, Microsoft has ended support for Windows 98. While many complained about the OS, I found it to be one of the best ones I have used, with a few tweakes here and there it became virtually bulletproof, never needing a reboot unless a new driver was installed. Not once did I have a virus on it, thanks to a few useful utilities and using some common sense.

So even though MS wont support you I will always have a place in my heart and on my hard drive for you!

Windows 98 is dead, long live windows 98!

If this doesnt scare the crap out of you...

then nothing will...

http://spp.gov/

yeah, it sounds good... but Mexico is not our responsibility, if they cant keep their house in order, why in the name of all that is holy should we shoulder the burden?

Is this the reason Bush doesnt care about the border, cause he really doesnt want any?

Sound Familier?

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage.

A City Income Tax?

From Wednesday's Tulsa Whirled:

"The city should consider supplementing its unreliable sales taxes with property taxes and income
earning taxes, a planning expert said Wednesday."

City Councilor Roscoe Turner has been trying for a couple of years to get the city to seek new revenue streams. He is advocating that the revenue be a portion of the property taxes that Tulsa County receives.

The city doesnt need more money, the city needs to quit wasting the money it recieves, we are building an arena that will not produce income for the city, instead our tax dollars will be used to maintain it... and Im not even talking about the overrun on the budget to build the thing in the first place!
The city of Tulsa needs to quit getting involved in projects that need to go to private industry, if the private sector thinks its a bad idea, then the city should pay attention.

Roscoe is right in his quote above, the county is getting a large amount on money for a very small job. The city of Tulsa with a population of around 300k, is paying a rediculous amount of money to take care of roads that and other things in "rural" Tulsa county... look at a map, there is very little land in Tulsa county that isnt incorperated by a city... so just what does the county do?

Monterey's Tex Mex Cafe

It's been 23 years since I last ate at Monterey's, and that was the one on 18th & Sheridan. This time I visited the one over on the west side. the resturaunt is a lot smaller than it looks on the outside, and it definitally hasnt been updated in years, but the food was good.

I had the Fajitas Azteca, which is a pork variation of your traditional Fajitas with a BBQ sauce, onions and cheese. The wife had tamales, she always complains that she cant find good tamales at resturaunts in this town, those complaints have now been curbed.

Next time I wont wait 23 years to come back!
