Thats not what we voted for!

This week the arena overages were announced... and those that were labeled Nay-Sayers have been proven right, we cannot build the arena for the money voted on...

Originally, of the 183 Million voted for, 123 was to go to to the arena, the remaining 60 million was to go to the Convention Center renovation, somewhere along the way, the Convention center lost and the arena gained 20 million, Now County Commisioner Bob Dick suggests we spend all 183 on the arena. we didnt agree to that.

Now they are asking for 3 million in 3rd penny to fix the roof of the Convention Center... why give these people more money to waste? Its time to stop the 3rd penny, its time to stop the arena, take it back to the people and stop losing another 100 million.

Remember folks its YOUR money, If you wouldnt spend your money this way, why let someone else waste your money?

The answer is NOT downtown

The question is, how do we draw these people into Tulsa?

Americans are leaving the nation's big cities in search of cheaper homes and open spaces farther out.

so how do we lure these people here? well it isnt with the 9th worst streets and a murder rate thats on rate to hit 100 this year. It isnt going to be an arena that will sit empty and drain money from the streets and cops. It isnt going to be a Jazz Hall of Fame, or Pocket parks.

Its going to be infrastructure, safety, a family environment, and a willingness to help businesses locate here.

Truth in advertising

Tulsa Body Lotto!

over the weekend we had murders 26, 27 & 28... what will the final count be? place your bets!

At the current rate that will be 96.3 murders by the end of the year... not counting the spike that will surly happen in the summer...

Thanks Bill

Taxation without representation

A few things about Taxes have been swirling in my mind the last couple of days

The first thing is something I have mentioned before... Property taxes. I believe this is one of the most unfair taxes of all. Because of this tax you do not truly own your house, just stop paying your property taxes and see what happens. Property taxes also fund schools, I don't have children, yet I pay over $1000.00 a year to watch our schools fail.
There needs to be a new more even handed way to tax people that wont cost them their homes, you don't pay yearly taxes on your TV, you don't on your car, (Tags don't count because they are use taxes which pay for the roads ::HA!::).
Eliminating Property Taxes will also even the playing field with the Native Americans who don't pay.

Next thing is an article was released by the Census Bureau showing where Oklahoma ranked in Taxation; we are 25th in the nation, 34th if you figure it per capita... look at those numbers and now compare it to where we rank in roads and education (see a pattern?)

Lastly is the 3rd penny, which will soon be coming up for (yet another) vote. I'm voting no, it probably wont do any good cause as a friend of mine who moved here from Nebraska asked, "Don't Tulsan's say no to any taxes?".
My reasons are such: they have squandered the last 3rd penny, not finishing some of the projects, the priorities are all screwed up, leaving roads and police on the bottom of the pile, while adding more improvements downtown and a convention center roof which we thought was taken care of in Vision 2025. Tulsa is more than downtown!

If they cant be good stewards of OUR money then we shouldn't't reward them with more. It's time to quit feeding their greed and rewarding incompetence.

The signs you didnt see...

RIP

I was planning on posting this after the primaries, but things didnt fall as I would have liked, and until last nights announcement by Sam Roop, I decided not to post this, but now that it has been proclaimed that we are broke (Chris Medlock's idea about how to use the 4 to fix money looks really good now, doesnt it?) here it is...

After...

After all the medling of the GOP, we now have a democrat for Mayor, it could have been Medlock. Now what Sullivan, Inhoff & Roberts? Isnt this what you were trying to stop? Maybe next time you will keep your mouths shut, your fingers clear and let the locals take care of things.

Personally, Im going to hope for the best, but expect the worse with Taylor. We will soon find out what "team building" and "finding the best person for the job really" means.

One group of people Im not going to feel sorry for are those that decided not to vote for Mautino, you made your bed, now you can sleep in it.
