Words mean things

NBC has decided to start using the term "Civil War" to describe the violence in Iraq, so what does that mean? A Civil War is an internal struggle to determine an identity, just look to America’s Civil War as an example. What is going on in Iraq is an invasion of Syrians, Iranians and other outside groups to try and disrupt the reorganizing of their Government.

By changing the terminology, it allows the democrats a way out. It indicates that the Iraqi people are trying to determine how they want to be governed in which the US has no business in, as opposed to the US protecting the Iraqi people from outside forces.

Indy vs Tulsa

Interesting comment on Sunday Night Football… they were showing all the lights around Downtown Indianapolis, the mall, the hustle and bustle… and Madden made a comment that Indy draws people to it’s downtown unlike most American cities.

Once again you have to look at why Indy draws its people downtown.

Restaurants and bars, hotels & existing convention space, shopping and attractions… Including the NFL Indianapolis Colts.

What does Tulsa have to offer?  Nothing that is being worked on downtown or being proposed by the GoBs. There is no room around the Arena for development and the Channels will actually draw people away from downtown as proposed.

The East Village, expanding OSU Tulsa and promoting the Blue Dome district are good ideas that would lead to the growth and revitalization of downtown.

So the question is, what do the powers that be really want? Surly they read the reports that Arenas and Convention space is not the way to go, so why forge ahead anyway? And why place it where they did? Wouldn’t it make more sense to place in the eastern part of downtown where economic development could actually take place?

Don’t forget that former failure LaFortune went to Indy to see what they did, only to ignore it.

You cant appease them...

It was well know that before the election the terrorists were wanting a democratic victory, and to shore up that result they ramped up violence in Iraq to make the American people lose their spine. what has happened since that day? what have the terrorists done to thank the American people? How about a series of bombings that killed about 150 people and wounded 257. This violence will contine to escalate until the Democrats "cut and run", then the terrorist will be free to come here to continue their carnage... what would stop them?

While you are giving thanks this Thursday,

Please consider a small charitable contribution to the Cornerstone Assistant Network to help feed those that wont have enough for a proper Christmas Meal. $15 will feed a needy family of 8-10 people.

Cause and effect

a couple of stories  caught my eye today...
the first being the effect: U.S. Concerned About Rising China
the cause? Study Documents Negative Impact of U.S. Trade Deficit with China

the second effect concerns the liberal indoctrination in our school systems... the cause? more conservatives are having children than liberals... and children often follow in the footsteps of their parents, so they are trying to remove the parents from the equation

and a couple other interesting notes:
Conservatives are more generous
and
Conservatives are happier

Oklahoma is 100...

...and once again we are ashamed of our legacy. With the exception of Carrie Underwood, all entertainers coming to our town have no association with our state... The Blue Man group (at $100.00 a head), Air Supply (good group... in the 80s), and Tony Bennett...

Where are the Oklahoma entertainers that have made it big? Leon Russell, Elvin Bishop, Roy Clark, the Gap Band, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, JJ Cale, Hanson, Reba McEntire, Toby Keith (just to name a few)... why arent they in the spotlight?

at least they could have grabbed someone with some ties to Oklahoma. David Teegarden and JJ Cale both worked with Bob Seger (who is out promoting a brand new album by the way).

Don Williams & Eric Clapton both sang this websites namesake "Living On Tulsa Time" and Eric Clapton just finished up an album with Tulsa's own JJ Cale.

Im not saying anything bad about the performers themselves, but until I heard about it on the radio, I had no idea they were a part of the 100 year celebration.

A word of warning

On Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) Best Buy has a 32" Westinghouse HDTV LCD TV on sale for $479.00... a savings of $320! however there is a catch, it isnt the same 32" HDTV they sell normally for $899.00.

There is very little information on this set, so buyer beware!

One thing came to mind

While listening to a news report this afternoon on KFAQ, I heard a reporter say that Bush was out stumping, trying to help sway the vote. The first thing that came to mind was that he already did...

A Baptist?

From this KOTV article : Brad Henry's a Baptist and pushed for the lottery despite an outcry from Oklahoma Baptist congregations. He says he promised the state a vote on the lottery and delivered. Henry says he'll now support what Oklahoma wants.

We don't need Baptist like this in our ranks, we dont need him representing us, and Im not happy with the "outcry" that he received the first time. Come to think of it...  where is that outcry this time?

Istook stated that "Mortgage foreclosures have gone up 45% in the past year in Oklahoma, since Brad Henry's lottery and Brad Henry's casino have been operating as they have been. You also see food stamps in Oklahoma have reached an all-time high."

"If it's immoral, then you know, I suppose it is." - Brad Henry

take heed lest by any means this liberty of your's become a stumbling block to them that are weak - I Cor. 8:9
